David Hammond pioneered the use of combinatorial chemistry for protein bioseparation in the early 1990s and has been vital to the development of the ARC Platform technology establishing the current portfolio that was licensed to Prolias, LLC. He has over 20 years' industrial experience and in building sustainable and successful research programs in oncology and infectious disease, first at Bristol-Myers, then Bayer, and Vi Technologies prior to joining the American Red Cross. David was responsible for assembling the management and research team that formed PRDT, which led to the development of the prion reduction filter. Dr. Hammond has been pivotal in 9 successful Biological License applications that today form the foundation of Bayer's (now Talecris') $1 billion per year biological business. Dr. Hammond received his Ph.D from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
